Tycho Brahe's debut album recorded and mixed 1998 - 2000 at The Tycho Room in Brisbane, with the exception of the track "White Room" which was mixed at Grevillea Studios. Recorded on a 486 PC running Windows 98, and 8 track shareware recording software through a stereo in/out sound card, this album truly embraced Tycho's "DIY" aesthetic, and represents the sound of a band learning how to record and mix, using the most basic equipment pushed to its functional limits. All nine of the albums primary tracks were being performed live regularly at shows around Brisbane, with the band typically rehearsing and often performing on a weekly basis. The independent release received distribution through now defunct US independent label A Different Drum in Utah, and was critically well received on the independent synth pop scene.
