about

This recording represents how Tycho Brahe sounded live circa 2009 - 2010, and the live presentation of the band has continued to evolve over the years. This release is included in the Tycho Brahe catalogue as a document of that time.

The studio experience for this low budget late night session could be best described as, "suboptimal". The band went in with plans of not only recording audio, but also video of the session; the lighting was so poor in the facility though, that the video footage was unusable.

The title "...what you paid for", was chosen so that if someone were to purchase the EP, they could be asked, "Did you get what you paid for?". With the price for download set at $0, the answer to that question becomes a very cynical, "I paid nothing...".

"...what you paid for" is Tycho Brahe's first official digital-only release. The liner notes drafted for this EP, but never published since no CDs were pressed, are revealed for the first time ever, below...

----------

The concept: place Tycho Brahe in a recording studio and have the band perform a selection of songs live, just as they would at a gig, so the live energy can be captured in a controlled environment for posterity.

The reality: the same lack of control applies, and before we know it we're dealing with poor sound monitoring, equipment breakdowns, microphone spill and general confusion.

The truth: You get what you paid for. We did. Did you?

The small selection of songs here represents a couple of band favourites, a cover for a good friend, and some requests from the eternally patient long term die hard fans of Tycho. To you, we shout "Thankyou!" This is for you.

Especially Mil. Certainly Jason. Particularly Lisa. Music conquers all.
