Desire + Control was composed for the Claire Marshall dance film "Love Song", and melodies and parts of the song can be heard throughout the film and trailer.

The preceding single lifted from the film soundtrack, Love Blind Love, was heavily influenced by late '80s / early '90s eurodance, whereas Desire + Control instead uses the same sound palette but brings a strong influence from early to mid-'80s electro...artists such as The Egyptian Lover, Arthur Baker, Cybotron, Warp 9, etc... Similar to Love Blind Love, instrumentation includes Roland TR-808, 909, and 727 drum machines, plus other percussive elements from various vintage drum machines, TB-303 synth, Yamaha FM bass, vintage Prophet 5 synth, and loops from played acoustic percussion instruments. Essentially an instrumental, the very minimal lyrics consisting only of the words "desire" and "control" are processed through a vocoder, and reflect the narrative of the film for which it was composed.

Desire + Control is the second single released from the upcoming EP, "Love Song: Music from the Claire Marshall Film".
