MAKE ME / FEEL FREE was inspired by the Claire Marshall dance film "Love Song", being rapidly composed in a rush of creativity immediately after completing the song Love Blind Love for the same project; elements of the song were subsequently incorporated into the film.

Initially conceived as an instrumental by Ken, vocals and structural edits were added when Georgina, after hearing the final instrumental mix through the studio monitor speakers, insisted the song was "begging for vocals".

MAKE ME / FEEL FREE hovers around the same genre as preceding singles Love Blind Love and Desire + Control, but incorporates a more sleazy early '90s feel. Alongside instrumentation such as Roland TR-808, 909, 727, and Oberheim DMX drum machines, played acoustic percussion also features heavily which lends a more Latin feel - agogo, cowbell, triangle, guiro, and tambourine, plus acoustic chimes. A Devil Fish-modded Roland TB-303 slammed through a vintage Quadraverb effects unit features prominently from 1:35 to 2:12, and bass is supplied by a vintage Yamaha TX81Z synth module, playing the iconic "Lately Bass" sound, as heard famously in tracks such as Vogue (Madonna), Pump Up the Jam (Technotronic), and Chime (Orbital).

MAKE ME / FEEL FREE is the third single released from the upcoming EP, "Love Song: Music from the Claire Marshall Film".
